Administration/Manager Review & Search

The Administration Search (and subsequent Investment Manager Search) process is a critical initial element in the establishment of an effective and efficient retirement program. The objective of each search will be to formulate a strong and lasting relationship between the sponsor and its new administrator / investment manager.

Once the initial elements have been put in place, the ongoing evaluation and monitoring of the Administration becomes an element covered under the ongoing governance process.

In addition to the search and selection of administrative services, Proteus will conduct an Investment Management Search and if necessary, an actuarial services search, on behalf of the plan sponsor.

Investment Manager Searches can involve:

  • A review of the current manager
  • Needs based style identification
  • Compilation of long list candidates
  • The choice of short list candidates
  • Presentation(s) by short list candidates
  • The selection and monitoring of the manager(s)
  • The Investment Manager Search Process is one that requires a tremendous amount of time and effort. Our objective upon completion of each search is that we will have played a key role in the formulation of a strong and lasting relationship. If we have accomplished this objective there will be no need to sever that relationship and reinitiate the search process. We are confident that the process we follow will foster such relationships and with a consensus approach to the setting of benchmark objectives we are able to back our work with a Performance Guarantee. If the investment manager fails to perform to the benchmark objectives as outlined in your investment policy statement within the first three years of their mandate, that we will conduct a new search to replace that manager at no charge to you. This search may take place at any time up to twelve months past the end of the third year.
